As a Partner at New Profit, Will works with the inspiring social entrepreneurs at Right To Play, Rare, and BUILD to help them achieve their aspirations to deliver high-impact service to populations in need and to leverage that work to bring about systems change.
Will's passion for his work at New Profit is fueled by his urge to work in service to others, a drive first triggered during a summer's travel to India as a teenager that opened his eyes to the enormous differences in the human condition.
Will joined New Profit in 2007 by way of repurposing a career in senior leadership roles in entrepreneurial, venture-funded, technology companies where he built and lead passionate teams to create outstanding products and rapid revenue growth. His path from 'high tech' to venture philanthropy began with serving for seven months as Interim COO at Right To Play International where he helped the CEO build a stronger team and prepare the organization for rapid growth and significant enhancements in the quality and consistency of the direct program.
His most recent position in the for-profit realm was Vice President at Dun & Bradstreet (D&B), a leading global provider of business information where he led three geographically separate marketing information business units with over $50 million revenue. Will came to D&B by way of its acquisition of iMarket, Inc., a venture-funded desktop and internet software provider where Will was CEO.
In earlier roles, Will co-founded Micro Mentor, an end-user training company focused on using first-generation spreadsheet software; he was CFO of Graphic Communications, a desktop graphics software company he helped sell to Lotus Development Corporation; and Lotus where he formed and led three rapidly growing teams which developed two innovative software products, acquired two desktop software companies and launched three products which generated over $200 million revenue.
Since graduating from an all-male secondary school and college, Will has shared his life with his wife, Margaret, and their two (now adult) daughters. They delight in life-long friendships, all too infrequent international travel, and beaches, boats, and bedrooms by the Atlantic seaboard.
