Laurie has been working with high-growth, entrepreneurially led organizations since 1984, starting in the venture capital world and now in the nonprofit sector. She enjoys working with smart, driven people who are trying to make a difference in their space, and values her opportunities with New Profit to help innovative social entrepreneurs achieve their goals for their organizations.

Prior to coming to New Profit, Laurie was a co-founding Partner of Prism Venture Partners, a $1 billion plus venture capital firm where she invested in a number of medical and healthcare information technology companies. Before starting Prism, she was a partner at Harbourvest Venture Partners where she invested in healthcare and communications companies for eleven years. Laurie also spent five years in commercial lending at U.S. Trust Company of New York after college.

Laurie serves on the boards of The Travelers Companies and MFS Mutual Funds, in addition to the boards of Williams College and ACCESS. She has been an Overseer at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston for many years.

Laurie graduated from Williams College with a B.A. in art history and economics and she received a master's degree in Business Administration from the Boston University School of Management.

Laurie and her husband have two college-age children. Her family loves to ski, sail, and spend time at their family-owned boys camp in the summer. Her hobbies include biking, riding the Pan Mass Challenge, and tennis.

Summer job as a Fuller Brush salesperson, selling household cleaning products door to door.
